After plastic surgery many patients feel like they are “a new you”, with previous body imperfections corrected and a new sense of self worth and self esteem. Whether the procedure performed was a face lift, a mini lift, a tummy tuck, rhinoplasty, octopalsty, liposuction or any of hundreds of other procedures, the important thing for most people is that the problem they wanted corrected has been corrected and they feel often as though they have a new lease on life. The trick then is to keep it all together and continue looking fabulous.
How you do that depends of course on the type of procedure that you had, but it is a certain fact that living a healthy lifestyle will contribute to keeping your new appearance looking new and fresh. If your procedure involved dermabrasion, a deep chemical peel, intense pulsed light therapy or laser therapy to remove hair, or if you had skin pigmentation problems taken care of then it is a certainty that you should avoid excessive exposure to the sun. All of these conditions and their corrective procedures mean that a patient should be very careful of excessive sun exposure and take care to use sun blocks and wear wide brim hats when sun exposure is unavoidable.
If you are one of the many people who have had liposuction to assist in weight loss and body sculpting then remember that the fat removed from the body can come back if you don’t watch out. Moderate exercise such as taking a brisk walk every day, swimming, or getting into a workout regime at the gym or health club can be one of the best things that you can do for yourself. Combine this with sensible eating, avoiding fad diets and paying attention to good nutrition and you should be able to keep the weight off. Eating smaller portions, avoiding fats and eating lots of fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and high protein foods such as chicken and fish will help you keep the new you, well, you.
It also makes sense to take vitamins and minerals. Ask you doctor what he recommends, and get in the habit of taking care of yourself. You only have one body after all. After all of the time, trouble and expense you’ve gone to in order to look your best, why not make it last a lifetime?
