Whether you are experiencing rainstorms, snowstorms or sunshine, the middle of February seems like a lifetime away from the summer sun. However, if you want to look your trimmed, toned and tanned best for the beach, you’ll want to get a head start on your body. You might need a few tweaks and adjustments, or an entire overhaul, but no time is better than the present to get started.
Why now is a good time to start thinking about your summer body
The results of most plastic surgeries take days, weeks, or even months to show their best to you. In the meantime, you might experience bruising, swelling, scarring or other unsightly blemishes near the area that you target.
Beginning a plastic surgery regimen in the winter allows you to cover up most of the healing process with pants, long sleeves, jackets and scarves – you can expect the area(s) to be smooth and healed by beach-time.
Also, if you are planning more than one surgery, you should allow yourself longer to heal. Sometimes multiple surgeries can be done at once, but depending on what you require, you may need to see a surgeon multiple times in order to get everything done. The earlier you begin this process, the better.
Your doctor might also require you to wear post-surgery garments, many of which are impossible to conceal underneath a bathing suit.
The common procedures
Liposuction – This procedure is great for removing unwanted fat on your body. Vaser liposuction is especially good for targeting smaller pockets of resistant fat from numerous locations on your body.
Many women report using liposuction to remove the “love handles” that tend to spill over tighter jeans, or to remove unwanted belly fat.
Arms can benefit from liposuction as well. As fashion turns increasingly to sleeveless or skinny-strapped tops, the fat under the arms becomes glaringly visible. Liposuction can remove this fat, and you can see results from this in as little as 10 days.
Breast augmentation – This is a popular surgery for women who want to look fuller in their bikini tops. Recovery time can take about a month before you are back doing all of the activities, including surfing and swimming, that you love.
Laser hair removal – This is one of the best procedures to do in the winter rather than wait for the summer. Because removal of unwanted hair takes 4 to 6 treatments at one-month intervals, and sun exposure is not recommended for the affected area, laser hair removal is a great surgery to start immediately.
A word of advice…
Nothing can compare to proper diet and exercise for gaining and keeping the healthiest you possible. However, even with all the effort of eating right and hitting the gym, you might notice some areas of your body that just won’t conform to your ideal bikini-clad summer-self. This is where some cosmetic surgery can come to the rescue, and make sure that you are in tip-top shape to flaunt your stuff on the beach in full confidence.
