Plastic surgery does leave scars. That is an unfortunate fact of life for those patients who are considering plastic surgery. Board certified professional plastic surgeons do their best to minimize the scarring and to hide the scars, but there will always be some scarring that will be a tell tale sign of having had plastic surgery. These scars are often hidden in the hairline or behind the ears making them less noticeable, but they are there.
Still the benefits of plastic surgery for many patients who choose to take that option far outweigh any negatives that may come from the small scars that the surgery produces. A facelift for instance generally tends to raise the self esteem of the patient as it improves the physical appearance of the patient, whether male ors female, and generally no matter what the age of the patient.
Having a plastic surgery procedure is a big decision and not to be taken lightly. A person will find themselves to be a good candidate for plastic surgery for cosmetic purposes if they are fully informed of all aspects of the procedure, all of the pros and cons, and all of the methods used by the surgeon to improve the patient’s appearance. The small scars that result should be discussed with the doctor so that the patient is fully aware of the fact that they will exist.
However, plastic surgeons today are masters of camouflage. The physician when planning the procedure with the individual patient will look at the face or other body part and plan the incisions to assure minimal scarring, and to make sure that those small scars that will appear will be hidden as much as possible.
The plastic surgeon, after all, is there to help the patient and wants to make sure that the patient’s appearance after the procedure is as pleasant and pleasing as possible. Hiding a scar behind the ear means that it will rarely be seen by anyone. Also placing it in the hairline for most people provides sufficient hiding. The only exception would be if someone lost their hair or decided to shave their head for some reason.
With medical advances it may be possible someday to have plastic surgery with no scars, but right now they are minimal and for most patients not a concern.
