Intense Pulsed Light or IPL is a noninvasive hair removal method using a xenon flash lamp and special focusing optics. It can also be utilized in treatment of skin damage caused by the sun, acne or vascular changes, and birth marks. Dual mode filtering and other advances make it a very safe procedure. To remove hair the intense pulsed light beam strikes darker pigmentation and converts it to eat energy vaporizing the hair follicle. The pulses are of short duration which minimizes pain and discomfort. Men, in fact, have thicker body hair than women and feel more discomfort. Generally six to eight sessions will take care of the problem. The laser light is attracted to dark pigmentation and works best on dark coarse hair and more pale skin.
