The Internet is a wonderful tool that allows the collective knowledge of humanity to be pooled together. However, it is also largely unregulated, meaning that the information you read could be inaccurate, deceptive or biased.
In order to give you some bearing while searching for news, procedural information, commentary and opinions on plastic surgery, we have brought together a list of some of the top plastic surgery sites. The alphabetical list, along with descriptions of what the site offers, is below:
American Society of Plastic Surgeons – this is the website run by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, which was founded in 1931 and is one of the largest organizations of its type in the world. This site has information for patients and consumers, media, medical professionals and others, and covers the basics of any procedure you might be thinking about. It also features a surgeon search, which lists only those surgeons who are members of the ASPS.
BeautyForLife.com - This site allows you to take a quiz and helps you come up with a “beauty for life” plan that includes the surgeries that are right for you. For those considering surgery but wanting a more tailored approach than many sites offer, this is a great resource. Remember that nothing compares to a consultation with your doctor though, and you should not use this site as a substitution – only as a guide.
Consumer Guide to Plastic Surgery – This site has in-depth information about any and all questions you could have, relating to a specific surgery or plastic surgery in general. It is certified by HonCode, meaning they meet the standard of the non-profit organization aimed at ensuring that true medical facts are available online. It also features before and after photos, “find a surgeon” search and much more.
Medical News Today – For up-to-date medical news, including plastic surgery news, this website is one of the best. It is updated seven days a week, with more than 50 articles per day. The experts scour the web and bring the most accurate, timely news possible to your computer screen. You can access the “Cosmetic Medicine” or “Plastic Surgery” categories to find specific news relating to plastic surgery.
We will bring you another list of great plastic surgery resources when we’ve compiled it. For now, these sites should get you started on your quest for information about cosmetic procedures. And don’t forget to check out Dr. Grossman’s website if you want a consultation in the Denver or Beverly Hills area.
